FACT: In Australia, one woman is killed almost every week by a current or former intimate partner. In 2012/2013, 29 family violence-related murders occurred in Victoria, which account for a nearly half of all murders committed in the state. Intimate partner violence perpetrated by men is found to be the leading contributor to death, disability and illness for women in Victoria aged 15 to 44 years.
